The Enslaved on the Codrington Estates

The downloadable Excel spreadsheet contains the names of more than 1,400 enslaved people who lived and worked on the Codrington Estates from 1731 to 1834. While the SPG owned the two plantations following the death of Christopher Codrington in 1710, there are no surviving slave registers from before 1731. There are likely close to a hundred or more individuals whose names are not recorded.
